Dhayah Fort

Crowning a hill below the Hajar Mountains in Ras Al Khaimah, Dhayah Fort is the United Arab Emirates’ last remaining hilltop fort. Constructed in the 19th century from the remnants of earlier fortifications, this mud-brick structure played a significant role in local history. It served as a holdout for the Al Qawasim people during their unsuccessful resistance against British forces in 1819. Today, visitors can explore the fort’s rugged, weathered walls and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, offering a tangible connection to the region’s past.
