The Red House

The Red House, located in Port of Spain, serves as the seat of Trinidad and Tobago’s parliament. Originally constructed in the mid-19th century, the building was destroyed during the 1903 Water Riots, a period of unrest sparked by increased water costs and the introduction of water meters in private homes. Rebuilt in 1907, the Red House now stands in the Beaux-Arts style, featuring ornate details and a grand facade. Visitors today can admire its architectural elegance and learn about the country’s political history.
