Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon

Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, an ancient Buddhist temple located to the southeast of Ayutthaya, was first constructed in 1357 by King Uthong. The temple was designed to accommodate monks returning from Sri Lanka, where they had studied practical Buddhism. Dominating the landscape, a towering chedi stands as the temple’s most prominent feature, visible from great distances. Visitors can climb to a platform at the base of the chedi, providing panoramic views of the temple grounds and the city beyond.
