Loch Ard Gorge, a highlight of Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, is a golden sand beach almost entirely encased by crumbling ochre cliffs that form a tear-shaped oceanic chasm. This site gained historical significance from the 1878 wreck of the Loch Ard, one of the most famous shipwrecks along the Shipwreck Coast. Today, visitors can explore the dramatic landscape, walk along the sandy shore, and learn about the area’s maritime history through informative signs and guided tours.
