Opened in response to the dwindling turtle population in Mexico, the Mexican Turtle Center (Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga) is a 10-acre (4-hectare) facility located in Mazunte, Oaxaca. The center houses a variety of sea and freshwater turtles across over a dozen aquariums, featuring species such as hawksbills, leatherbacks, and green turtles. Visitors can explore the center on a guided tour, learning about the different species and the conservation efforts aimed at protecting these creatures. The center provides a unique opportunity to observe and understand the diverse world of turtles in their natural and simulated habitats.
