Imabari Castle

Facing the Seto Inland Sea, Imabari Castle served as the center of the Imabari Domain during Japan’s feudal Edo era. Unlike many of its counterparts, this castle was not constructed on a hill, making it a flatland castle. Today, while much of the structure is undergoing reconstruction, visitors can still observe its original walls and a wide moat, which is fed by the sea. The site offers a glimpse into the historical fortifications and strategic design that characterized such castles in the region.
