The Florence American Cemetery and Memorial, one of 26 American military cemeteries on foreign soil, is nestled among the forested hills near Florence. Spanning 70 acres (28 hectares), this expansive site honors over 4,000 American soldiers who perished in the Italian campaigns of World War II.
