For over 200 years, the Palace of the Captains General (Palacio de los Capitanes Generales) served as the colonial headquarters for the Spanish viceroy in Antigua, Guatemala, overseeing the governance of the entire Central American region. This historic building once housed the royal court, post office, treasury, and even horse stables. After the capital was moved to Guatemala City, the palace underwent an extensive restoration. Today, visitors can explore cultural exhibits and attend performances within its storied walls, offering a glimpse into the rich history and vibrant culture of the area.
