Nestled in the arid expanse of the Atacama Desert near San Pedro de Atacama, the Tulor Village offers a glimpse into the lives of some of the region’s earliest inhabitants. Dating back to 300 BC, as confirmed by carbon dating, this ancient site is one of the oldest archaeological finds in Chile. The remnants of the village, though weathered by time and the harsh desert conditions, still reveal the circular layout and earthen structures that once housed a thriving community. Visitors today can explore these preserved foundations and gain insight into the daily life and architectural practices of the people who called Tulor home thousands of years ago.
