Designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, the Esplanada dos Ministérios is a grand monumental boulevard in Brasilia, serving as the centerpiece of the city’s modernist architecture and a highlight of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Located at the eastern end of the Monumental Axis, the esplanade features a series of manicured lawns bordered by 17 homogenous buildings that house Brazil’s federal ministries. Visitors can stroll along the expansive, well-kept grounds, taking in the symmetry and scale of the government buildings, which stand as a testament to the city’s planned and purposeful design.
