Free University of the Environment (UNILIVRE)

Nestled within the vibrant city of Curitiba and set deep in Zaninelli Park, the Free University of the Environment (UNILIVRE) stands as a testament to sustainable education. Once an old granite quarry, the area has been transformed, reforested with native vegetation that now thrives. The main building, featuring a 49-foot-tall wooden tower, harmonizes with its natural surroundings. Visitors can explore the park’s many paths, observing native and regional birds, and climb the spiraling stairs that wrap around the building, offering panoramic views of the landscape. The campus also includes an open-air auditorium and a 24-foot-deep lake, home to swans, ducks, and various fish, providing a serene and educational experience.
