Established in 1951, the Alice Springs School of the Air Visitor Centre showcases a unique educational approach designed to reach children in remote areas of Central Australia. Spanning an expansive half a million square miles (1.3 million square kilometers), the school uses radio and now modern technology to deliver lessons, creating a virtual classroom for students who might otherwise be isolated. Visitors today can explore the interactive exhibits and gain insight into the innovative methods that have connected and educated generations of young Australians in some of the country’s most far-flung regions.
