Akaroa Lighthouse

Built in 1875, the Akaroa Lighthouse originally stood on a rocky perch at Akaroa Heads, guarding the entrance to Akaroa Harbour. Despite being replaced by an automatic light in the 1970s, its significance as a local landmark led to its relocation just south of the town. Visitors today can explore this historic structure, which continues to evoke the maritime heritage and rugged coastal beauty of New Zealand’s South Island.
