Skinny Bridge (Magere Brug)

The Skinny Bridge, or Magere Brug, is a wooden drawbridge that spans the Amstel River in Amsterdam. The original bridge, dating back to at least 1640, was so narrow it accommodated only pedestrians. Today’s version, completed in 1871, is a wider replacement, featuring low arches that are illuminated with glistening lights at night. Visitors can walk across the bridge and enjoy the picturesque views of the Amstel River, especially enchanting after dark when the bridge’s lights reflect on the water.
