Tua Pek Kong Temple

Kuching’s Tua Pek Kong Temple, one of the city’s oldest Chinese places of worship, dates back to 1770 as claimed by a plaque at the site. It is among more than 70 temples in Sarawak dedicated to Tua Pek Kong, a Taoist deity revered by Malaysians and Singaporeans of Chinese descent. Perched on a podium adorned with vibrant dragon carvings, the temple’s interior is filled with the smoldering scent of incense and glistens with gaudy colors.
