Samaria Gorge, located in southwestern Crete, is one of Europe’s longest canyons and a popular hiking destination. The rugged river valley trail stretches for 10 miles (16 kilometers) from Xyloskalo in the White Mountains to the coastal village of Agia Roumeli. This natural wonder is part of Samaria Gorge National Park, which extends along the Libyan Sea coast. Visitors can experience the dramatic landscape, with steep cliffs and diverse flora, as they traverse the trail that winds through the gorge.
