Viaduc des Arts

The Viaduc des Arts, located in Paris, France, originated from the Bastille viaduct, which opened in 1857 during Haussmann’s modernization of the city. Initially part of the Paris to Bastille-Varenne railway line, the elevated tracks were later repurposed as the Promenade Plantée, a green walkway. Beneath, the vaulted arches were converted into 41 artisan studios, creating a unique and vibrant art district. Today, visitors can explore this historic structure, admiring the craftsmanship and creativity of the artisans who continue to work and display their art in these atmospheric spaces.
