Old Jewish Cemetery (Starý Zidovský Hrbitov)

The Old Jewish Cemetery, known as Starý Zidovský Hrbitov, is one of the largest cemeteries of its kind in Europe, with headstones dating back to the mid-1400s. Located in Prague, this historic site holds the remains of over 100,000 of the city’s Jewish citizens, marked by around 12,000 gravestones. The cemetery’s dense rows of weathered and tilted stones, each inscribed with Hebrew and often adorned with symbols, create a labyrinthine and evocative landscape.
