Puente de Occidente (Bridge of the West)

Stretching across the Cauca River in Antioquia, the Puente de Occidente, or Bridge of the West, is a 984-foot (300-meter) suspension bridge built in 1895. At the time of its construction, it was the longest suspension bridge in South America and the third-longest in the world. Though it no longer holds these titles, the bridge remains a vital connection between Olaya and Santa Fe de Antioquia. Visitors can walk across the historic structure, taking in the scenic views of the river and the surrounding landscape, while appreciating the engineering marvel that has stood the test of time.
