Gran Malecón

Perched on the banks of the Magdalena River in Barranquilla, the Gran Malecón del Río is a vibrant waterfront promenade that captures the essence of Caribbean charm. Stretching along the river, it features an array of bars and restaurants, as well as sports fields for recreation. A notable highlight is the giant golden statue of Shakira, a tribute to the singer who was born and raised in the city. From the promenade, visitors can also enjoy views of Salamanca Island Nature Reserve, where mangrove forests provide a haven for nearly 200 bird species.
