Preah Ko Temple (Prasat Preah Ko)

Preah Ko Temple, part of the Roluos Group of temples surrounding an early capital of the Khmer empire, was built in the late ninth century by Indravarman I and originally dedicated to Shiva. This small brick-built temple features six sanctuaries and is named ‘sacred ox’ due to its association with Nandi, the bull that Shiva rides. Visitors can still see statues of Nandi, adding to the historical and cultural significance of the site. The temple’s compact layout and well-preserved sculptures offer a glimpse into the architectural and religious practices of the time.
