St. Nicholas Abbey

St. Nicholas Abbey

Built in 1660, St. Nicholas Abbey is a beautifully restored Jacobean mansion, one of only three authentic examples in the western hemisphere. Located on an old sugarcane estate in Barbados, the abbey features distinctive Dutch gables and a red roof. Inside, visitors can explore a museum that offers a glimpse into 18th-century plantation life, complete with historical artifacts and exhibits. Adjacent to the main building, a working rum distillery continues the island’s rich tradition of rum production, providing a unique and immersive experience.
