Bloody Point, situated along the western coast of St. Kitts, bears a name that echoes a tragic historical event from 1626. During this period, both French and British colonizers were expanding their claims on the island, leading to a conflict with the native Carib Indians, under the leadership of Chief Tegremare. The Caribs planned an attack, but the French and British, forewarned, united forces and inflicted a devastating defeat, resulting in the deaths of over 2,000 Carib natives. Today, visitors can reflect on this somber chapter of history as they stand at this significant coastal site.
