Wingfield Estate

Nestled in the foothills of St. Kitts’ central mountain range, Wingfield Estate dates back to the 17th century and was originally owned by Sam Jefferson, the great-great-great-grandfather of Thomas Jefferson. This historic site holds the distinction of being the first working estate on the island, where tobacco, sugar, and rum were produced. Today, visitors can explore the ruins that tell the story of its past, and visit the rum distillery to learn about the process of converting sugar into rum, offering a tangible connection to the estate’s rich history.
