Hwaseong Fortress

Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Seoul, South Korea, was constructed between 1794 and 1796 under the direction of King Jeongjo. The fortress served both as a defensive structure and a memorial to house the remains of the king’s father, Crown Prince Jangheon. Its distinctive architecture, which required over 700,000 man-hours to complete, blends Chinese and Korean elements. Today, visitors can explore the well-preserved walls, gates, and watchtowers, offering a tangible connection to the region’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
