Bioluminescent Bay (Mosquito Bay)

Bioluminescent Bay, also known as Mosquito Bay or Puerto Mosquito, is one of three bioluminescent bays in Puerto Rico, situated on the island of Vieques. This bay stands out as the brightest, drawing visitors for nighttime boat tours. The water’s luminescence comes from dinoflagellates called Pyrodinium bahamense, tiny microorganisms that emit a soft glow when disturbed. As you glide through the dark waters, every movement creates a mesmerizing trail of light, offering a unique and enchanting experience.
