Castillo San Felipe del Morro

Perched on the northwestern tip of the islet of San Juan, Castillo San Felipe del Morro, or El Morro, has stood as a sentinel over the Atlantic since the 16th century. This fortress, part of the San Juan National Historic Site, was built to guard the city and the Bay of San Juan from potential invaders. Its imposing stone walls and strategic location offer a glimpse into the military architecture of the colonial era. Today, visitors can explore the expansive grounds, walk along the ramparts, and take in panoramic views of the coastline, all within a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
