In 1492, Christopher Columbus embarked on his historic voyage to the New World aboard the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. Though the original Santa Maria did not return from that journey, a faithful recreation has been a notable attraction in Funchal, Madeira, since 1998. This replica, moored in the harbor, captures the essence of the 15th-century caravel, complete with its distinctive design and rigging. Visitors can step aboard and even set sail on this vessel, experiencing a taste of the maritime adventure that once changed the course of history.
