The Munch Museum, originally opened in 1963 to honor the centennial of Norwegian symbolist painter Edward Munch, now resides along the Bjørvika waterfront, adjacent to the Opera House. This new location, inaugurated in late 2021, showcases a comprehensive collection of Munch’s artistic legacy, including paintings, prints, drawings, watercolors, and sculptures. Visitors can also explore his personal belongings, such as notebooks, photographs, art tools, and furniture, providing a deeper insight into the artist’s life and creative process. The museum’s extensive archive of letters further enriches the understanding of Munch’s work and times.
