Shwenandaw Monastery

Nestled at the foot of Mandalay Hill, Shwenandaw Monastery stands as a testament to Myanmar’s rich cultural heritage. Constructed entirely of teak, this grand wooden monastery is adorned with intricate carvings that depict Buddhist parables, animals, and flowers. Originally part of the Mandalay Royal Palace complex, the building was engulfed in flames during World War II but has since been meticulously reconstructed. Today, it remains the only wooden structure in the palace complex, offering visitors a glimpse into the region’s architectural and artistic traditions.
