Ghar Dalam Cave and Museum

Għar Dalam, Malta’s oldest prehistoric site, is a massive limestone cave complex that offers a glimpse into the Neolithic era. Located in Valletta, the caves have provided significant evidence of human occupation, with archaeologists suggesting that the first settlers arrived from mainland Europe via a land bridge. Excavations began in 1911, and intriguingly, people were still living in the area at that time. Today, visitors can explore the cave system and learn about the ancient history and archaeological findings that have shaped our understanding of Malta’s early inhabitants.
