Founded in the 6th century by Prince Shotoku, a key figure in introducing Buddhism to Japan, Shitenno-ji stands as one of the country’s oldest temples. Located in Osaka, the complex features a multi-tiered tower, a pagoda, a lecture hall, and an impressive gate. Although most of the current structures date from a 1963 reconstruction, they faithfully replicate the original 6th-century design. Visitors can explore these historic buildings and gain insight into the early days of Buddhism in Japan, surrounded by the serene and contemplative atmosphere of the temple grounds.
